INDIANAPOLIS - The Marian women's tennis team got off to a fast start and cruised to an 8-1 win over Spring Arbor to close the regular season. Marian finishes second in the Crossroads League with a 8-1 record.

Marian was up 1-0 in doubles play in no time as Mary Mullaney and Emma Wood made quick work of No. 3 doubles, winning 8-0. Anne Taylor and Maria Lueken fought to pick up an 8-5 win at No. 2 and Elise Betscher and Maria Angela Sunga earned an 8-5 win at No. 1 as well.

Sunga was the first to finish singles, winning 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3. Lueken clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 2. Spring Arbor picked up it's lone win at No. 4, as Taylor fell 6-3, 6-3. Mullaney put the Knights back on track with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 5 and Alex Griebling closed the match with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 6 and Betscher won 7-6(7), 3-6, (11-9) at No. 1.

The win puts Marian as the second seed heading into the Crossroads League Tournament. The Knights will host their quarterfinal match Oct. 3 at 1 p.m.
