WESTFIELD, Ind. - The Marian women's soccer waited 80 minutes, but Maria Farmer supplied the goal for the Knights to keep their winning streak alive, defeating Bethel 1-0 in the Crossroads League opener for both teams Saturday night at Grand Park in Westfield, Indiana.

The 80 scoreless minutes came as a frustration for a Marian offense that was not lacking in opportunities from the start. The Knights fired 16 shots compared to Bethel's three in the first half, dominating possession and taking chances at every possible moment. However, Bethel's Tessa Zimmerly was up to the task, making seven saves, while nine other shots from the Knights were off target.

After the intermission, Marian's offense dominated even more with the shot totals at 14-0. Finally, in the 81st minute, Farmer received a pass from Paige Newton and put it away for the game-winner, which extended Marian's winning streak to seven games.

The Knights outshot Bethel 30-3 for the match and held a 12-2 advantage in corner kicks. Catherine Schmidt did not have to make a save in the 90 minutes she played, while Zimmerly made 10 by night's end.

Marian will be on the road Oct. 4 at Grace for a 7 p.m. kickoff in Winona Lake, Indiana.
