INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- After dropping four straight games, something happened to the Marian College baseball team on Tuesday night when it traveled to Huntington. The Knights not only swept the Foresters, but, when push came to shove, they showed they will not back down from anything.

The Knights battle the Indiana Wesleyan Wildcats on Thursday and are looking to continue their recent string of success on Diaper Day at the Ballpark in conjunction with Armed Forces Day. Donations of packages of diapers are accepted to benefit the Indianapolis Catholic Holy Family Shelter and the ceremonial first pitch will be thrown out by students who have served in the United States Armed Forces. The Hoosier National Guard will also be presenting the colors before the game at 3:30 p.m.

The Knights swept Huntington on the backs of seniors Jeff Brunette and Jason Moon, who shut down the high-octane Forester offense allowing just one unearned run and eight hits over 14 innings.

Senior Bryston Bangel is red-hot at the plate as he extended his hitting streak on Wednesday against Anderson University. The speedy centerfielder has increased his batting average from .219 on March 29 to a team-leading .325 after Wednesday's 3-for-5 showing. Bangel also leads the team in hits (37) and stolen bases (13).

Senior Joel Strode is also batting .321 with 12 RBI and 10 stolen bases while sophomore Chad Morris is knocking the ball around at a .280 clip.

Brunette is currently 5-2 on the season with seven complete games in eight starts and two shutouts in 53 innings of work. He is carrying a 2.38 ERA and has a 3-to-1 strikeout to walk ratio.

Moon is 2-3 on the season, but looks to have regained some of the form from last season's 8-2 record.

The Knights are currently 12-20-1 overall and 7-6 in the Mid-Central College Conference. Marian is battling for a spot in the MCC Tournament and wins over IWU could only enhance their chances at a higher seed.
