HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The Marian women's tennis team continued its solid play to open the spring season, defeating RV Missouri Valley 8-1 Tuesday morning in Hilton Head, South Carolina. Marian defeated nationally-ranked Coastal Georgia Monday.

The Knights put the match away early, winning all three doubles matches. Emma Wood and Mary Mullaney won 8-0 at No. 3 doubles and Anne Taylor and Maria Lueken followed with an 8-5 win at No. 2. Maria Angela Sunga and Elise Betscher followed suit at No. 1 with an 8-5 win to earn the sweep of doubles.

In singles play, Lizzie McClure was the first to finish with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 5. Mullaney then won at No. 4 by a score of 6-1, 6-1, while Betscher earned the win at No. 3, 6-0, 6-1. Sunga had to come from behind at No. 1, but won 3-6, 6-3, 11-9. Lueken fell at No. 2, but Taylor closed the day out with a win at No. 6, 7-5, 6-0.

Marian will face Milligan College Wednesday at 4 p.m.
