David Roberts enters his 27th season as the head coach of the men's and women's cross country programs.
 
The 2009 season was special for Roberts as he guided the men's team to its first-ever Mid-Central College Conference championship and senior Kyle Murray won the MCC individual championship to become the sixth individual runner to earn the conference title. He was also named the MCC Coach of the Year for the third time in his career and had the fifth student-athlete in his career earn NAIA All-America honors.
 
During his tenure at Marian University, Roberts has led 32 Knights to individual national qualification and also led the women's program to the 1994 MCC championship. He has also coached 27 Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes, and he has had the women's team named NAIA Scholar Team four times while the men earned the honor on three occasions.
 
A member of the 2006 and 2007 USATF outdoor championships organizing committee, Roberts was instrumental in the production of events in the city of Indianapolis on both the local and national levels. He also served as a coach at the 1996 Indianapolis Peace Games.
 
He resides in Indianapolis with his wife and they have four children.
