After seven seasons at the helm of the Marian University women's basketball program, head coach Todd Bacon shows no signs of slowing down. His versatility has made him a strong asset to the Marian University community, and his commitment to excellence has fueled him during his time as a coach.

Bacon came to Marian University in 2000 after a stellar coaching career at Mid-Central College Conference foe Goshen College. During his 10-year stint at Goshen, he served as men's basketball head coach (six years), head baseball coach (three years) and assisted baseball coach (seven years). In addition, Bacon also served as director of athletics at Goshen College.

His tenure at Goshen saw vast improvement in the men's basketball program. In his first season, the Maple Leafs went 0-27. However, the next season saw the win total climb to 14, and, in just his third season, his players set a new school record for victories with 19. His team combined for 53 wins over the next three seasons including the program's only two postseason victories. In 1997-98, the Leafs defeated Taylor University, while in 1998-99 the Leafs got the better of Marian University. His players or those he recruited still hold records in 13 of 24 single-season categories. His record of success in basketball carried over to the spring season. His 1998 ballplayers still hold the school record for highest team batting average (.317).

Bacon left Goshen and came to Marian University in 2000 as an assistant director of admission. After spending three years in that capacity, he was brought into athletics as the head coach for men's and women's tennis and women's basketball.

In his seven seasons as head women's basketball coach, Bacon has compiled a record of 120-85 (.585). Over the last two seasons, the Knights have been ranked in the top 25 with last season's No. 14 ranking as the top spot. Bacon guided the team to their highest-ever ranking in 2005-06 when they sat at No. 11 in the NAIA Division II Women's Basketball Coaches' Poll.

The 2009-10 season saw unprecedented success during the Bacon era as the Knights earned their first-ever trip to the Mid-Central College Conference Tournament championship game and earned their third straight 19-win season. The 2008-09 season saw MU rattle off 15 straight victories en route to a 19-12 season, while the 2007-08 team finished 19-11. The Knights have compiled a 29-11 home record in the last three seasons and have finished in the top six in each of his seven seasons. The 2008-09 campaign also yielded Bacon's 100th career win as head women's basketball coach.

His student-athletes have a track record of success of the playing field as well. In seven seasons at the helm, Bacon has had 13 athletes earn Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors.

As head men's tennis coach, Bacon led the Knights to back-to-back MCC championship and three straight NAIA Region VIII Tournament appearances. Under his tutelage, MU went 50-9 over four seasons and 28-4 in the MCC after a 1-9 season in 2003. His efforts were not lost on the women as his teams earned NAIA Region VIII Tournament appearances in four of his five years and two straight appearances after second-place finishes in the MCC. The women were 40-18 in his four years and 22-9 in the MCC. To say success has followed coach Bacon would be an understatement.

He was shifted from the head tennis coach to assistant baseball coach with a concentration on working with the pitching staff.

Bacon was a two-sport athlete at Earlham College. He was a four-year letter winner in baseball and basketball and was voted the Most Valuable Player in baseball in 1988 and 1990 and in baseball in 1989 and 1990. He was an integral part of the 1989 Collegiate Athletic Conference baseball championship team as well. His basketball career was also highly successful. Bacon held the school record for most three-point field goals in a game as well as the single-season and career records. He graduated in 1990 with a bachelor of science degree in movement studies.

He is married with four children. The family resides in Crawfordsville, Indiana.

Meghan McWhirter is in her fourth season as an assistant coach for the Marian University women's basketball program. Formerly Meghan Pilarski, she was a four-year letter winner at Marian University in basketball and track and field and is the current record-holder in the javelin.

McWhirter played in 103 games in women's basketball and notched 48 starts as a post player. She averaged 6.5 points per game, but was known more for her tenacity on the glass. Her ability to rebound the basketball brought her an average of 4.2 boards per game during her career, including 113 rebounds on the offensive end.

Coach Bacon describes McWhirter as a player that would "get after it" during every game and was a student-athlete that he hopes his athletes can emulate every time they hit the floor.

She earned a bachelor of science degree in biology in 2006 and finished her nursing degree in 2010.

She married Josh McWhirter, a former baseball player at Marian University. The couple resides in Avon, Indiana with their son.
