In his ninth year at Marian University, Scott Fleming serves as head softball coach and director of intramurals for the Department of Athletics.
During his tenure with Marian University, Fleming also spent eight seasons as assistant men's basketball coach and helped guide the Knights to two NAIA Division II National Championship tournaments. He also spent seven years as an admission counselor and as an assistant director of admission. He also served as a volunteer coach for men's basketball for six years and for women's basketball for one year.
In 2011, Fleming led the Knights to their fifth consecutive 30-win season after the Knights went 34-16. He guided them to their fourth straight MCC Tournament championship game after their 11-7 MCC record earned them the four seed. He had one student-athlete honored as a Capital One Academic All-America® College Division Second Team selection and had two honored as Capital One Academic All-District® College Division First Team selections. Four players were named Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes and three also earned All-MCC honors. He had another student-athlete honored as an NAIA All-America honorable mention for the third straight season.
In his eight seasons, Fleming has amassed a 240-116 (.674) career record and a 92-36 (.719) mark in the Mid-Central College Conference. He has guided 33 players to All-MCC honors and has seen 25 earn Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors. He has had three players earned NAIA All-America honorable mention honors, coached the 2004 and 2011 MCC Players of the Year, the 2009 and 2010 MCC Newcomers of the Year and the 2010 MCC Pitcher of the Year.
He guided the Knights to the 2010 MCC regular season championship after they earned the first undefeated regular season in school history (16-0) on the heels of the MCC Tournament championship in 2009. At the end of both seasons, he was honored as MCC Coach of the Year.
Fleming is a 1989 graduate of Marian University and is married to Gina, who is a 1993 graduate of Marian University. The couple has two sons and resides in Indianapolis.
