"We Are Not Done Winning Yet" (posted on October 12, 2010)

Well ladies and gentlemen, our season, as well as my career here at MU, has finally come to an end.

After a great season and a heartbreaking loss to Indiana Wesleyan in the semi-finals of the MCC Tournament, we are done for the year. Although it was a very sad ending to a career that I have deeply enjoyed here at Marian, I am very pleased with the way my senior season went, as well as ended, compared to my previous two campaigns. A new coach, a new attitude from the players, and just a sense of starting over is what we needed to turn this program back into its winning ways, and that is exactly what we did.

From the beginning of the year, I knew that this team was destined for success. But, I had faith that we would push even farther than the semifinals and I hoped for a championship. I cannot be upset with our finish and I at least went out with a great record of 12-6-2. I am going to say that I am very proud to have captained this team, and I thank all of my teammates for voting me to one of the three captain positions back in the spring season. My co-captains, James Dulhanty and Donald Oldham, did a fabulous job leading this team, and I am fortunate to have been alongside them for the coin toss prior to each game. I would just like to thank them for making my senior season a very memorable one and being a stepping stone to get Marian University men's soccer back on the map and on to our winning form.

I would also like to thank each and every one of my teammates for making this a very fun season. Every one worked hard and put a lot of work into this season and it paid off in the end. From scoring goals to stopping the opponents from scoring goals, we executed well as a team and it was all due to the hard work we put in during the off-season and two-a-days. So once again, thank you to all of my teammates for making this season a success! And, for all the underclassmen who get another shot next season, do NOT stop here and do NOT be satisfied with another semifinal appearance next season, I want you all to bring home the trophy!

I believe that the coaches deserve a big thank you as well because they pushed us to keep working hard even when we wanted to quit or take breaks. Thank you for getting us prepared for each game and leading us in a positive way. It was a pleasure playing for Coach Hardin in his first season as head coach of MU men's soccer, and I know he will only take the team up from here, and he was MCC coach of the year in my opinion, taking us from 3-13 to 12-6. I could be wrong, but that's a solid turnaround! I would like to thank Coach Cole and Coach Brown as well for keeping us motivated and helping Coach Hardin prepare us for each game so we can come out successful each night.

Thank you to all the fans as well for all of your support and keep coming out to cheer on men's and women's soccer because both teams are looking bright and successful for many years to come now. And thank you to my mother, Teri Lock and my father, Kenny Lock, as well as my brother, Brad Lock, for being my inspiration to succeed and make you guys proud.

I want to just add a quick thank you to our sports information writers as well. Thank you for following us and writing about our games and keeping the community updated on our success (as well as our failures).

Lastly, I would like to say thank you to my fellow seniors, Donald Oldham, Matt Stoner, and Michael Foerster. You all have been great to share my four years with here at Marian and we helped lead our team during this successful season, so even though our careers have ended, keep your heads up because I know we'll all be successful one day in whatever we choose to do. So thank you guys!

Sorry for the long blog, but the great season we had deserved it. So this concludes our season and my blogging for 2010. So, thank you to all the followers and I hope you all stay connected to the soccer team and keep up with their success in the future.

CONGRATULATIONS TO DONALD OLDHAM FOR BEING NAMED MCC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR! Great accomplishment Don, I'm proud to be your teammate man!
