"Labor Day Weekend" (posted on September 6, 2010)

Hello Everyone! I hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend.

Well, we recently made a trip up to Fort Wayne last weekend for a two-day tournament. We came out of that tournament with one loss and one tie. Although we played really well, we just struggled to finish our opportunities around the goal once we got them. We played much better last weekend than a record of one loss and one tie describes.

Davenport beat us 2-0 in a game that, in the opinions of our players, we should have won. Cornerstone was our other opponent and we came out with a tie against them. In the second game, against Cornerstone, we struggled to play well together in the first half, but we picked it up in the second half and we dominated them over the last 50 or 60 minutes of the game, but we just couldn't find a way to dent the back of the net to take the lead. Overall, it was a successful weekend in showing us where we stand against two teams that have received votes to be ranked in the top 25 in the NAIA national poll.

We hit the road once again just a couple days after our Fort Wayne tournament as we headed down to Georgetown College in Lexington, Kentucky. Both teams battled hard, and there were chances missed by both us and Georgetown. Our backline held strong all game as we preserved our second straight shutout, which has already matched our total amount of shutouts we had last season!

A huge part to preserving our shutout as well goes to our keeper, James Dulhanty, who had a great game making some key saves under pressure. As the game was stuck in a draw after regulation, we set out to end it quickly in overtime, and Grant Brackin did just that when he scored just eight minutes into overtime! It was a great win to get on the road!

So now that we had a couple of days to rest and recover for our next game, we have been getting back into improving our game and not settling for being a .500 team. We want a winning season, and everyone is striving for that right now, so keep coming out and supporting us so we can use your to lead us to victory!

I'd also like to give a quick shout out to my boy Tyler Kitchen, keep working hard bro! And keep that positive attitude of your's going!
