"Man, I Love This Team!" (posted on September 14, 2010)

First off, I want to start off by saying I love this team!

With a huge win away at Georgetown in overtime still on our minds, we made a trip up to South Bend to take on Holy Cross. We were all pumped up before the game, ready to go for our second win in a row, which is something we have not had the opportunity to do much in the past few years. So with that in mind, we got off the bus focused and for the most part we were ready to get started and win this game.

When the whistle was blown, as it seems the past few games, we started off kind of slow. That hurt us a little bit because about halfway through the first half I looked up at the scoreboard and it was showing Holy Cross 2 and Marian 0. After seeing us down by two so early, I think all of us decided to wake up and play our game. Within five minutes of getting down by the second goal, we had brought it back to a 2-1 score and we had the momentum. We were excited to go into the break down one with the momentum but right before half time we received a red card, and that brought a little doubt into our minds. So we had a mountain to climb in the second half.

But needless to say, we responded like a great team and being down a goal and down a man for the entire second 45 minutes, we still managed to play with heart and passion. We came out on top by a score of 3-2! The whole ride home that night, all I could think about was how proud I was of my teammates. Last season, we would have gotten down 2-0 and probably put our heads down and lost 4-0, but this season is a whole new team and a new attitude. The heart we showed on the field Saturday wasn't just noticed by me either.

I got on the Holy Cross web site the next day, and their head coach recognized the heart we showed on the field. He said that we played with passion and that his team just could not match the heart with which we played! So when the other team's head coach acknowledges that, it truly makes me proud to be a part of this team!

Although that was possibly the best win of my college career, we're not going to be satisfied with that. We play Hanover tonight, Tuesday, September 14th at 7:30 on our turf field, and we're going for win number 3 in a row! So come check us out tonight because we are an exciting team to watch!
