"Thank You to the Alumni" (posted on August 23, 2010)

So two-a-days are finally over, and we are now just two days away from our first official match of the regular season! To finish out our first week of training, we played an exhibition match against our alumni.

The alumni team brought back a solid squad with some of the best players to ever play at Marian University. With us having four or five key players out nursing injuries, it was a tough game. We lost 1-0, and unfortunately, Zach Brown, our current volunteer assistant coach, scored the only goal of the game.

After thinking about the game once I got back to my house, I realized that our team is full of potential and I feel like we will peak at the right moment this season. Like I have said many times before to numerous people, I see us shocking many teams this season as we will exceed the win total of our last two seasons.

Looking forward to this week we have two games ahead of us. On Wednesday, we have our home opener against Robert Morris. We lost 3-1 last year up in Chicago, and I'm looking to pay them back a little bit and beat them by a couple goals or MORE!

On Sunday, we have our second game of the week when we play host to Benedictine. Since I've been at Marian we have never played them so I'm not sure what to look forward to, but, either way, I'm expecting a victory with the lineup we can put out on the field. So come next Monday morning, I expect to be walking around campus to my classes with two wins under our belts to kick off the season.

So if anyone is in town on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. or Sunday at 2 p.m., come to St.Vincent Health Field and watch us win a couple of games!

Lastly, I would like to send out a Thank You to all of the alumni who came and played against us on Saturday, and I would also like to thank the fans for coming out to support us. I hope the support keeps coming for the entirety of the season!
