Kim Buell - Assistant Coach - 1st Season
 
Kim Buell is the first assistant coach in Marian University men's and women's bowling history and is in his first season. However, he is no stranger to the sport of bowling.
 
Buell has had a storied career as a bowler and as a bowling coach. He has been a member of the Professional Bowlers Association for 32 years including a stint as a touring professional in 1978-79. He holds 11 Indianapolis city championships and is a three-time Indiana state champion. He was the 1991-92 Diet Pepsi League of Masters Champion and was named the Indianapolis Star Traveling League Rookie of the Year in 1976.
 
He has bowled 54 300 games in his career with his last one coming on May 4, 2009 in Mooresville, N.C., on the PBA Senior Tour. He also has bowled 16 career 800 series with his last one coming on Oct. 21, 2008 at Expo Bowl in Indianapolis. He earned his career-high average of 232 in 1988-89 and held a 223 average in 2008-09.
 
Buell's experience also branches into coaching. He spent 18 years as a coach in the junior program at Western Bowl, the Knights' practice facility, and coached two teams in the Junior Traveling League from 1991-2001. In 2008-09, Buell served as the Indiana High School Bowling Indianapolis North Division Coordinator.
 
From 2002-06, he served as the head coach at Ball State University and guided the men's and women's teams to the sectionals in all five seasons. Under his tutelage, the women qualified for the National Collegiate Tournament in 2004.
 
Buell was elected to the Indianapolis Bowling Hall of Fame in 2001 and was named to the Indiana Bowling Hall of Fame in 2007.
 
He resides in Indianapolis.
