INDIANAPOLIS - For the second straight season, a pair of Marian University softball student-athletes were honored as Capital One Academic All-District® selections in the College Division, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced last week. Student-athletes are eligible for the award if they have achieved sophomore standing, have maintained at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's contests. The sports information directors in each district vote on each district ballot and those selected are placed on a ballot for Capital One Academic All-American® honors, which will be announced in the month of May.

MU HEADED TO OPENING ROUND FOR FIRST TIME
The 2013 Crossroads League regular season and tournament champion Marian University softball team is headed to Saint Joseph, Mo., for the 2013 NAIA Softball National Championship Opening Round hosted by Park University at Heritage Park on May 13-15. It is the first trip to the national tournament since 2003 when MU went to the final site. MU has made three appearances at the NAIA Region VIII Championships in 2006, 2007 and 2008 before automatic qualifying was introduced in 2009.
