INDIANAPOLIS - Marian University head women's soccer coach Kurt Guldner is proud to announce the first signing for the 2011-12 season of Knights women's soccer.
"I am very excited to sign Colleen," said Guldner. "She is one of the top players in the Midwest. She will bring a strong presence to our already strong midfield. She sees the field very well and her experience and knowledge should help us continue the winning tradition we have built here at Marian University."
Colleen Diemer, a Plainfield, Ind., native, is the first commitment for the 2011 season. Diemer, a transfer from Mississippi State University, is a midfielder who earned All-State honors on two occasions and was a three-time All-District first team selection. She was part of two conference championship-winning teams and competed on the club level for Brett McIntosh's Carmel Elite 92 team, which she helped lead to the State Cup and the regional tournament in 2005, 2006 and 2007.
Diemer was selected to the national Olympic Development Pool in 2006 and the regional team in 2006 and 2007. She was also selected to travel with the ODP team that traveled to Costa Rica in 2007.
Diemer is the first to commit for 2011-12 for the two-time MCC champion Knights.
