INDIANAPOLIS - The 17-time USA Cycling collegiate national cycling champions and head coach Dean Peterson are proud to announce their second signing for the 2012-13 academic year.
Vance Fletcher, who will graduate from Chariton High School in Chariton, Iowa this spring, becomes the second student-athlete to commit to the Knights for the 2012-13 season.
Fletcher was a member of the national honor society who is also a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He was also a two-year letter winner in soccer and cross country who served as a mentor for third-grade students.
In his cycling career, Fletcher rides for IS Corp and has competed on the road and in cyclo-cross for four years. He rode two-week tour events in Belgium in each of the last two years and rode in the Tour de l'Abitibi in 2011. He finished 15th at the 2011 USA Cycling National Junior Road Race and was named Iowa Rider of the Year in 2009 and 2011.
He plans to study education and become a science teacher.
Fletcher becomes the second to commit to the 17-time national champions after Jon Morgan committed to the Knights earlier this month.
